02 Roaming in the USA - Pay monthly or Pay as you go

Hi,

I've been an 02 customer for about 20 years, and am travelling to the USA next month for 2 weeks, I notice I have the Travel bolt on but it will cost £6 a day for data roaming in the USA.

I have been doing some research, and it seems a Pay As You go SIM may be better value, so for example a 10GB allowance for 30 days can cost as little as £10 but it doesn't seem 02 offers this?

Can I swap out my 02 Sim for another provider Pay As You Go option for the duration of the trip?

Just get a local sim its cheaper and simpler, or look for a travel SIM card, for data...

To answer your question, yes you can.

Your phone will not be locked to O2 if bought since 2018.

@wilsmatt Whatever sim you use, you can also use WhatsApp over a WiFi connection to call, text or video call your contacts anywhere in the world who also has the app installed on their phone for free.

I have never been to the USA so cannot offer specific advice @wilsmatt, but you can buy US SIMs from Amazon UK if you want to resolve this before departure. 

I also have no idea how Amazon UK compare pricewise to buying in the US.

Cheaper at the Airport in the US than from Amazon and a lot more taffy buying in the UK, and at least if bought at the Airport you know it works.. 

As someone who used to used to travel to the US a lot for work..
