Nokia - Windows Phone 7.8 *RELEASED*

Hey Guys,

Got some great news for all you Nokia fans out there! You all will be delighted to know that we’re currently testing and working closely with Nokia UK to unveil the Windows Phone 7.8 software update for Lumia 610, Lumia 710, Lumia 800 and Lumia 900 soon to ensure it delivers a superb user experience.

Once we have a green light for the roll-out, we’ll update this post and O2 customers will be available to download the update via Zune. Exciting times, right?! Meanwhile, I’m curious to know which particular feature from the latest version (7.8) are you guys waiting for?

Update 31/01/2013: WP 7.8 is live for Lumia 610, 710, 800, and 900 and WP 8 PR 1.1 for Lumia 820 (OTA).

What does the update include? For Lumia 610, 710 & 800 devices, it includes:

• New features to the Start Screen, new colors and lock screen improvements.
• WP 7.8 OS includes enablers for new apps such as Bluetooth Share and Ringtone Maker.

For Lumia 820 devices, improvements include:

• Increasing device performance
• Browser enhancements and new ringtone capability.
• Improvements to the general functionality of the phone including NFC pairing, battery monitor performance and bluetooth connectivity.

Wow there we go. Finally! Got into the office this morning and stuck my HTC HD7 in its dock and immediately got an update available message.  I now have WP7.8 and immediately spent a few minutes re-anging my tiles.

So thank you O2. You were, however, very tardy in providing this update.

Great for you. Not so good for me: still no update.

Actually, I'm not so concerned about the fact that some people get this before others. These roll outs are always staged, and that's part of the defined process. So fair enough.

What continues to upset me is the disregard O2 are showing in their silence. O2 started this thread with the fallacious good news that it had been released, then went largely silent when it was proven wrong. What's more, on review every time they've made a statement in this thread it has turned out to be untrue. Then when people ask for a simple explanation of what's gone wrong they disappear.

I'm still looking forward to getting my update notification. However, I plan to ask for my PAC code at the end of my contract. That gives O2 until October to redeem themselves. They would make a good start by acknowledging that this roll out has been very poorly handled and reassuring us that they're reviewing their process and how its communicated.

It's totally UNBELIEVEABLE!!! Today got notification for 7.10.8783.12----'stupid update again!!' However after updating this, I got the notification for
7.10.8858.136 , and it is WP7.8 FINALLY!!! After 4 months waiting...

However I have ordered a HTC ONE yesterday...Looks like my sweet Lumia 800 is trying to get me back:smileytongue:

At last, checked my phone today no update, plugged it in when I got home. 7.8 got it going to start seeing what the difference is but liking the new look already.

Well after 3 updates totalling 25 mins tonight my Lumia 800 has plenty more accent colours to choose from! personally speaking good things come to those who wait & I bought the phone on a competative £16.50 pm tariff on its previous looks anyway so anything is a bonus!

Well after a wait of several months, with little to no information. I got the update on Friday.
