Any new news on the Nokia Lumia 920 becoming available on O2?
The EE exclusivety finishes today (31st December 2012) and as of yet there has been no definitive answer from any of the other networks, other than the odd rumour on a tech site. There is no sign of the phone on the Coming soon section of the shop either.
Surely you want to sell the WP8 flagship phone?

What problems did he have with it?

Phone kept overheating to the point he had to switch it off, MMS just would not work. The finish on it was peeling off after two days of the first one. The phone would just completely freeze. Seriously loads of stuff.
I am not doing it to put anybody off and we are pretty savvy when it comes to Electronics.
All I would say it on all four phones they were playing up with 48 hours so if you have any issues like that on your phone then use your 7 day cooling off period.

A valid point if it weren't for the fact that O2 Ireland are selling the phone

O2 Ireland is a totally seperate company and operates independently.

So you are suggesting that the management of O2 Ireland would ignore the fact that O2 United Kingdom have decided to not stock the phone for whatever reason and are going to stock it anyway?
That is obsurd.
If there was a genuine reason not to stock it then a technical bulletin would have been sent to all Telefonica operations worldwide to alert them to the fact and to tell them not to stock it.
O2 United Kingdom missed the boat, they either did not negotiate in time, or they already decided not to stock it, either way they have been poor in communicating with their long term customers and this will probably cost them a lot of money.

You have been given the reasons why it may not be stocked and one of those is a O2 employee.
This is not the first time O2 have not stocked a Nokia phone so you are telling me that if they made a mistake the first time they would repeat that again.
There are hundreds of examples of sister companies/ subsidaries/networks not following the lead of the the parent company. Happy to provide examples if you want.
Sorry but from what I have personally seen and read I think O2 may have dodged a bullet. I am sure some of you will not have issues but I can promise you that many will.

Kind of crazy that O2 will stock the 6 7 and 8 series Lumia but not the 9. How much software difference can it have that it can not be stocked. Personally thinking that the 6 7 and 8 series are cheaper alternative. Telefonica are in debt and it can't afford to prop up each subsidy of O2.
The 920 has everything the top of the range Iphone Android has.
This is a bad business practice as all other networks are stocking the 920.
As for My honourable op saying about software, Generally the 6 7 and 8 series Lumia has the near or same spec & software.
Also customer service is going down the pan, Spoke with a lady regarding data issue on my 4s. The CA kept saying check usage and turn off location services etc etc. Had already explained that Apple had already checked this and said its a network issue and not the phone. Every month since I had a upgrade I've used 1gb in 2 weeks. Apps I use are sky sports news and twitter facebook. Location services turned off.
My family have already left O2 to move on to other networks and dont seem to have a problem.
Cant see how O2 can hold on to its number 2 spot.
Also there seems to be no loyalty from o2 if you have multiple connections ie 2 contracts and home phone and bb.

I have been given no reasons why, that was an opinion by an individual. This is part of my complaint, that O2 have ignored their long term customers and given no reason why they have not stocked the most important handset to come out for a long time. It is getting top rated reviews all round and has the most interest of any handset since the N8.
There are loads of Nokia handsets that O2 has not stocked, but there have never been to my memory a flagship device that they have not stocked.
Are you saying that EE, Vodafone, T-Mobile, Orange and AT&T are all wrong in not dodging this bullet?
There will be problems, handsets will go wrong, people will be unhappy, but at least it won't be to the scale of Apple, who need repair centres in every store in order to keep up with repairs with their shockingly poor quality handsets - yet people keep buying them, do you not think they needed to dodge that bullet instead?
O2 have made a BIG mistake, it will cost them the core of their flagship Nokia customer base and that may be the a step too far for them this time.
