Hey there, Windows Phone fans.
Microsoft have been sending some stats our way and we’re told that on O2, nearly 70% of Windows Phone devices are now running Denim. When you consider that such a huge percentage are on the latest available update compared to the likes of Android, that is a staggering figure. But, we think it could be better – especially when so many Lumia devices (both old and new) are compatible.
Why update?
It’s not just important to update to the latest available software to benefit from brilliant new features, but also to ensure your own security and to ensure we and Microsoft can continue to support you with any issues you might have. New updates often fix bugs, patch minor security issues, bring new features you may find exciting, and quite often it can bring a performance and battery life boost too.
What’s new?
The latest available update for Lumia devices is ‘Denim’, but around 30% of Lumia devices on O2 are still running Cyan or older… So if you’re still rocking an old update, here’s what you’ll get by updating to Denim:
Microsoft Band
If you’ve not seen the new Microsoft Band, it’s a brilliant smartband helping you track and organise your daily life and fitness regimes. The Band will work on any 8.1 Windows Phone device (as well as Android & iOS), but some features like Cortana may only work on the latest Windows Phone update, so if you intend on getting a Microsoft Band, make sure to update to Denim for the best experience.
How do I update?
Chances are you’ve probably already seen the update notification but dismissed or overlooked it by accident, or you may even already be on the Denim update without realising. To check, or to update, simply follow these steps:
And there you go – if you’re not yet on Denim, let us know if the above has helped you update and also feel free to share your thoughts on the changes and improvements you’ve seen.
