Hacking onto internet via windows 7 phone

Both myself and my partner have Nokia Lumia 610 phones with Windows 7 through O2 which we have connecting through our Sky broadband when we are at home.

 

We are currently having problems with Sky as they are recording numerous premium rate numbers coming through our internet for which they have been charging us for. They have acknowledged that they aren't through our phone line (especially as we have premium rate calls blocked on it). They aren't interested in investigating it themselves (just out to get the money) so I am trying to investigate it myself so that I can force Sky to give us our money back and fix the problem. We don't use programs like Skype (and if we did it wouldn't matter because they charge you for the calls, not charge the broadband provider), and we regularly run virus and malware checkers on our pcs.

 

The reason for me posting in here is to try and eliminate whether it can be someone hacking through our mobile phones onto our internet? Is it possible this could be the cause?

 

I would really appreciate any help on this matter.

I've not come across this type of hacking as it's rare. Cloning etc.

I would fill out sky's complaint procedure and let them investigate.

To be safe change your passwords and your wep key password on your router too.

The first part has been tried already and their response was the usual "tough, you pay or else" attitude. We have got Ofcom involved.

 

As to the latter, I will have a go at that, thank you slight_smile

Ofcom won't look at this and it's not phone hacking.

 

This is nothing to do with Sky, somehow with or without your knowledge, you seem to have responded to premium rate services on your phone.

 

You might have clicked on an advert link when using the internet.

 

Contact PhonePay Plus to raise a case and you should be able to reclaim the charges from the companies involved.

This does seem the most likely explanation.

What are the premium rate numbers that are been recorded?
