Enable Data Sense on an HTC 8X!

I've now got Data Sense working on my HTC 8X!!!!!

Please note I'm running Update 3 (GDR3) including HTC's officially released firmware update and my 8X is unbranded.  I've no idea if this method works on GDR2 and / or O2 branded devices but there's nothing to lose if you try.

I ran HTCs 'Connection Setup' app, selected Manual Select > Deutschland > O2 Post pay and then let it work its magic. I cancelled the reboot part to complete the setup and now DataSense is enabled.  Because I cancelled at the end, the region returned to UK / O2 Mobile Web but left Data Sense enabled.

What's weird is that it's been collecting data even though the app wasn't setup or enabled.  The best thing is that it's correctly detected the remaining data allowance from O2.  Whahooo!!!

Did you not get data sense with the GDR2 update? Nokia and Samsung did......

No, GDR2 didn't enable it and not even a hard reset without the SIM inserted could coax it into life. Of course, I didn't know about this method then so I don't know if it could have worked because of GDR2 of not. I'm hoping someone with GDR2 will try it.

I'd be surprised if it wasn't in HTC's GDR2.....
