Peoples
Just need some advice because this is the 1st time its happened to me...
Ive been working for quite along time untill i had 5 operations and since than ive not been 100% theres days im alright and than theres those painfull days where i cant take the pain anymore...
I recently changed my doctor surgery closer being at my previous gp for 22 years ...
And he used to give me certain type of medicines which they call controlled painkillers like tramadol or dicloflex today was the 1st time i went to the new doctor surgery where i got registered and told her i ran out of my medicines and she refused them and told me to go buy ibuprofen and paracetamol i said that its been 3 months since ive been out of work because of this on going problem and the only tablets that help are the ones that i stated....
She dissagreed and didnt precribe me them...
So i came home and i was in pain the whole night yesterday where i couldnt sleep at all and i called 111 they said take the normal tramadols if u have them i said my gp refused to give them to me and ive taken paracetamol for 4 days with ibulrofen and it didnt help...
They said make ur way to the A and E ...or go back to ur gp and ask them to prescribe ur normal medicines that ur previous doctor gives to u...im confused ...
why would they let me suffer in pain...
Any advices on what i can do
Or should do
Please it would be well appriciated

If you make enough fuss I'm sure they'll give in eventually

From a medical/nursing perspective I can tell you that pain killers of the type you are on need constant review
A GP is absolutely right to try alternative drugs to ensure you are not becoming immune to those you are taking...or even worse case scenario...becoming addicted.
I hope your GP does not put you straight back on those you had before. You need to be reviewed as to why you are still in so much pain...
This is a personal view. I know nothing about your condition. I do however have vast experience of analgesic drugs...
You need to go back and see your GP again @Anonymous

It's the only way, keep pushing them. They have a duty of care and withdrawing medication totally and suddenly can be detrimental and have side effects. If they feel the painkillers such as Tramadol, which is a serious painkiller, isn't right for you, they need to find an alternative. Go back to them.
