Hey guys.
In one of my old forums I was a member of (not existing anymore since this year), we had a thread where everybody just told in short what made them happy this day. Thought it would be nice for here too!
To start: I'm working for EMS and my first call today was am expected birth. So we hoped we would be able to bring her into hospital just in time. But it didn't work. I was at the patient and she just said "it's coming"... My team-mate was driving REALLY fast, it took him about an kilometer to brake - during that time the baby was just born. Even we were a really young team and not long into job, we did VERY well and even the doctors told us we did excellent.
(Our last call was a reanimation on the street, the woman did not get an own circulation again.... But I guess that's the circle of life :D)

I don't feel there will be much to smile about today with all the terrible news from yesterday.
Lets hope for a peaceful one.

Amen to that @dgilbert2. We need some peace to counteract the horror that was yesterday.

My mum ate up all her lunch
She's in hospital
Roast beef + mashed potato + carrots + gravy
Pudding - jam sponge & custard ... ... ... mum just asked for custard & she enjoyed it
They patients have a 2-week, choice of, rolling menu book
The hot meals / salads / sandwiches look & smell wonderful
I could eat the meals with relish
I buy my food / drink, including a white chocolate Magnum ice cream, from the hospital shop run by The Friends of ...
Mum's ward is a community 'open' ward so there are no set visiting times & visitors can have their lunch with their families

My mum is coming home from hospital soon
A very good friend of mine received some good business news & some good personal news
Another good friend is doing alright, despite arduous circumstances & his cat's good too
I've had a good day in various ways ... celebrated with 2 x double G&T's in the bar area of a local hotel, with friends, of course

Hey @Anonymous
Great news about your Mum. Delighted to hear it. Please make sure they have everything in place though before she is discharged. District nurses, Social services for any equipment she may need. etc etc.
Has she got a zimmer frame to help her walk?
Have you been told that someone needs to be there to welcome her home? Not sure about the situation in Yorkshire but the ambulance discharge team in Warwickshire won't normally drop off elderly vulnerable patients who live alone without a friend /neighbour/ relative or district nurse being there to receive them.
Sorry to ask all the questions ....but once a nurse, always a nurse.
I wish her all the best for a continued recovery...

@Anonymous @Glory1@TallTrees @Cleoriff, thank you very much for your kind wishes & expecially Cleoriff for your specialist nursing knowledge
Unfortunately my Mum has got a temperature & has been on a drip & now on antibiotics via a canula
Mum is a determined woman, & it's a shame about the infection ... she is in a room of her own where I can talk with her quietly ... somehow ... being side-by-side with her is easier than with the table being between us ... she is frustrated as she was looking forward to coming home on Tuesday
Mum continues to eat well & looks well in the face
Various pieces of equipment have been delivered to her home with grab rails yet to be fittted
Cleoriff, my sister Caroline kinda is the co-ordinator in the family & liaises closely with the Discharge Co-Ordinator on the previous ward which mum will go back to, to finish her rebab when the time is right
I'm sleeping a lot in order not to get over-tired because then I can get ill, which helps no-one
