Beam me up Scotty
It's 50 years today since Star Trek first aired on NBC

Currently in the midst of a full scale trek-a-thon, working my way through every episode of every season of every series.
Have seen them all before, a lot of them many times, but decided it was time to watch the lot again.
Started with DS9 this time round, and having watched from beginning to end I'm now part way through S4 of Voyager. Next up will be TNG, then TOS and finally I'm giving Enterprise another crack. Have tried Enterprise a few times now and never really got into it in the same way as the other series - have watched all of the episodes, but not really been absorbed in them.
Anybody here collecting the Star Trek graphic novels with Eaglemoss? I'm still toying with the idea - not cheap, but they look fab!

I'm really tempted to start them @Wa10 :). Which ones caught your eye? I'm a huge comic nerd lol.

Never really been a massive comic fan tbh, it's the Star Trek imagery which is drawing me towards them.
These Eagle Moss collections always seem a fab idea at the time, but by the end it's difficult to look at them without picturing the brand new car you could have bought with the same money, haha! Starship collection, I'm looking at you.
They do a great job of selling them though, to the point that I know my subscription will be going in on pay day, lol. And who knows, it may draw me in to comics/graphic novels properly (my poor wallet is crying at the prospect! 😛 )

As a new Trekkie, I've never heard of this comic. I'm intrigued! Is it based on a specific era like TOS or something else?

NOT at all cheap, but looks fab and I'm sure will look amazing on my bookcase. Handy place to hide the credit card bill when I don't want to look at how much they have cost me too, haha.

I think I'm going to subscribe. It's so tempting. I subscribe to coffee and National Geographic, but I could switch to Star Trek instead for a while.

You subscribe to coffee?
Now you've got me intrigued! As a hardened 10 a day drinker (unless you're my doctor in disguise, in which case it's no more than 3 per day, and only occassionally ) a coffee subscription service sounds like manna from heaven!
I really am sorely tempted by the books, and the freebies aren't bad either. It'd be nice if there was a pre-defined series length though, as the Star Ship collection has got a bit out of control now, there are people who are seriously investing more in figurines than it cost to buy their house lol.

It says it comes with the lapel pin. @Toby and @Martin-O2 just so you know, I'll be wearing that every day at the office!
@Wa10 Yes I subscribe to Pact Coffee. It's quite cool. I haven't purchased a pack of coffee from the grocery store in what feels like years (apart from if I want some kind of flavoured vanilla coffee etc.).
Related question (kind of, but at least it's on topic! haha): when Picard drinks his Earl Grey tea, do you ever feel like suddenly you're craving for it too? I find myself often drinking tea when I watch Star Trek. I blame him.

OK @Marjo just don't start acting like the Captain just because you have a lapel pin

As much as I like Sir Patrick Stewart as a really fine actor, I could never truly believe in him as a Captain of the Starship Enterprise. No true captain would entertain Earl Grey tea....make it so!!
