Sayings

Hello guys!

I hope you are having a good week so far. Cheer up! We're almost there.

I thought it could be a good idea to create a thread about the sayings you guys know. Probably some of them are very popular but I'm sure there are a lot I/we have never heard.

What phrases/sayings/proverbs represent your life?

Which ones do you usually say?

I'll go first: 'The grass is always greener on the other side'

Meaning: You always think that what's happening to others is better than yours.

It's alright to talk to yourself

It's answering yourself back ... that's the problem

Then the little green van will come

& men in white coats will get you

This told to me by my mum when a kid ... ... ... I'm guessing, said in order to shut me up ... I used to sing all over the house ... particularly singing-along to music I'd recorded onto the Phillips reel-to-reel tape off the radio

If memory serves it was actually a song @Marjo.

Can't for the life of me remember the title - could've been 'They're Coming to Take Me Away' - but I'm just guessing.

I used to say the men in the white coats are coming to take me away when I made an awful 'boob' LOL

Based on the voice of whoever was singing/saying it, I kind of thought it was Danny Kaye at the time! open_mouth

Thanks @jonsie, I thought it was a song but couldn't remember who sang, or should I say spoke, it.

And I got the title right. I'm so bad when it comes to names and titles.

Oh and thanks @Cleoriff - you gave the umm ....singer's name. I must admit it never would have come to me, particularly as I wasn't sure it was a song.
