It's that time of year again.

@sheepdogcomes out of hibernation to join me and others like @RunrigForever  to comment on BBC's 'flagship' entertainment show. SCD.

I did wonder if it would take place this year as it's had some really bad press recently.

Two of the male professionals, Giovanni Pernice and Graziano Prima have been accused of abusive teaching methods. Giovanni has denied any wrongdoing. Last year he danced with Amanda Abington, who dropped out of the show. Graziano danced with Zara Larsson and he admitted kicking her. He was sacked immediately.

The BBC  have said they will be putting advisors into the training rooms to monitor all training and ensuring the welfare of the celebrities. So away we go again.

It doesn't start until September so I'll be adding to this thread as and when other celebs are revealed.

The first two contestants have been announced;

CHRIS McCAUSLAND - COMEDIAN

Chris is a really funny guy. He's also totally blind. As he said, this should be a laugh. 😂

The next contestant is JB GILL (from the boy band JLS)

Week 11 MUSICALS WEEK

Montell and Johannes. Rumba. I'm Here from The Color Purple

JB and Lauren. Viennese Waltz. Fly A Kite from Mary Poppins

Chris and Dianne. Quickstep. You're The Top. Anything Goes.

Sarah and Vito. Charleston. Popular from Wicked.

Pete and Jowita. Waltz. Somewhere from West Side Story.

Tasha and Aljaz. Argentine Tango. Ex-Wives from Six.

Seems like a short show. Not sure if they have any filler planned? I mean last week we had the Sambathon with one extra contestant.

@Cleoriff The show is 10 mins shorter than last week according to the TV guide.

None of the tunes ring a bell with me this week. And looking at the "musicals" listed, this might be a bit of a letdown this week so I'm not going to youtube any of it.

So Rumba is make or break for Montell. Can't say 3rd is going to be safe enough for her either. JB will sail through this VW. Chris has a good dance though expect little out-of-hold parts but who knows what will happen.

Sarah has a chance to top the leaderboard till Tasha does her AT and we better be impressed with it especially after the last two weeks. Leaving Pete to put himself in the dance-off.

Of course no MMA award this week because we'll get an song from some obscure show in the West End. I'll just give the award now regardless 😎

@sheepdog

Apologies but F1 is again 'interfering' with SCD. It's the penultimate race of the season in Qatar.

It's also a Sprint weekend.

Saturday will have a Sprint Race and Qualifying for the main race on Sunday.

The SCD and Qualifying times clash. So I'll be recording SCD

The race starts at 4pm on Sunday. If there are no crashes, safety cars etc etc, I may be able to watch SCD results show live. Either way, it's set to record.

Next weekend is the final race in Abu Dhabi. No timing as yet.

Qualifying action finishes at 19.30pm but then there are the interviews, excuses and justifications 😂

So the show will be well over by the time I watch it Saturday.

Musicals week.

Never seen the judges look so awful.

I thought the opening number by the professionals was a weird  mish mash. Though Carlos looked brilliant as the Triffid saying Feed Me.

Sarah and Vito. Charleston A great dance with many OTT lifts. Timing was immaculate.. Scored 38

Montell and Johannes. Rumba. Sorry but the music was not compatible with a rumba. Either fast or slow. Agree with Craig, it looked like snapshots of a dance. Scored 32

Tasha and Aljaz. Argentine Tango. I loved this dance. Really unusual. Captured the essence of the musical. Craig and Shirley felt it needed more fluidity, Score 38

Chris and Dianne. Quickstep. A good dance with excellent timing. However the footwork at the end got mixed up which Dianne claimed it was her fault. Chris never ceases to amaze me. Scored 32

Pete and Jowita. Waltz. Oh dear Pete, I've alway like you but now it's time to go. Out of hold he was good, in hold he messed up the footwork constantly (and he knew it.)  Scored 26.

JB and Lauren. Viennese Waltz. Absolutely beautiful dance. Best of the night. Lauren is a superb choreographer. Scored 39.

Tomorrow's musical is the cast of Hamilton. Not seen it but heard good reports about it.

Saturday show opening with a pro-routine? Hmm whats up for Sunday then? Carlos out-camping Johannes but didn't dance in those platforms. Shame 🤣 Suppose if you've seen LSoH then it probably makes sense.

Claudia in Black Friday Primark specials. Tess's filler in her cheeks seems to be getting larger by the week. My goodness, Motsi actually wins best dressed judge this week. Was Anton supposed to be Philip Schofield 🤔 Yeah not the most endearing look for Shirley as all I could see was Greg Wallace in a dirty mac.

Sarah & Vito: Wicked by name and wickedly good by dance! So far in her element she was into next week. Bonus: smiling. And even the backing dancers were used to good effect.

Montell & Johannes: Awful tune. Very much a Johannes rumba and given the tune, the style was there. However, as the judges say, no fluidity. We'll see this one again the dance-off and it will be better. Just hope it's Pete she's against.

Tasha & Alijaz: Hmmm kind of left feeling cold with this. Maybe the lighting or the blue pants and probably the backing dancers distracting me. Or maybe more on the musical style itself rather than the traditional mood. And some transitions were a little hesitant. Other than that, those legs and flicks and lifts!

Chris & Diane: Next year, Lee Mack for Strictly. Very good routine and backing dancers used just enough. But gapping and the end bit with the footwork were the obvious errors. He does tend to slouch and look not bothered going into hold which needs correcting.

Pete & Jowita: A bit familiar wasn't it? Think we've seen all of Pete's ability now and this brought nothing to say he'll be saved. Jowita threw in a few crowd pleasers to distract. He's done very well to get this far so credit has been earned.

JB & Lauren: And the end to the show we needed! One of the best VW by a male for a long while. Backing dancers pointless. Now the big question: if Amy had been fit, do you think he'd have been one of the celebs who failed to live up to his potential by leaving early?

So by right it should be Pete exiting but knowing Strictly, we'll have Montell v Tasha.

@sheepdog

To answer the question about JB and Amy v Lauren. I honestly think if left with Amy, he would have been gone by now. She wasn't well enough to come back in my opinion. I think it was a crowd pleaser to help them over the negative press from the two G's 'poor' treatment of their partners. (Amanda Abingdon, hang your head in shame!)

So Amy would have been too tired to think up excellent routines, let alone perform them.

It's been noticeable that she hasn't even been in the audience these last few weeks.

PS, if Pete isn't in the dance off this week then I think he should do a John Sargeant and pull out!

I know it's 'an entertainment show but the 'fans favourite' winning, sticks in my craw sometimes. A bit like Joe Swash beating Perry from Diversity in DOI.

I've never got over that one.

A bit hypocritical I know..... when every week I cheer on Chris McCausland 😂

Pleased to see the judges outfits were vastly improved!

You called it @sheepdog

Tasha and Alijaz

Montell and Johannes.

Just to rub it in Tess called the first saved couple as Pete and Jowita. He was gobsmacked.

I enjoyed the performance from the cast of Hamilton

Also the professionals dance from Sunset Boulevard was excellent.

The judges voted to save Tasha and  Aljaz. Good job.

Next week it's the semi finals with couples doing 2 dances each.
