Wright Bros.jpg

On this date, 121 years ago, Wilbur and Orville Wright succeeded in flying the first free, controlled flight of a power-driven, heavier-than-air plane. Wilbur flew their plane for 59 seconds, over a distance of 852 feet, an extraordinary achievement.

We've come a long way with flight in such a relatively short time.

The old adage: "if you've time to spare, go by air", @Bambino - truer than ever these days, with all the security and queues... Amelia Earhart landed her plane not far from here, after becoming the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic:

Indeed @Bambino A great achievement.

Much appreciated by me when I had an apartment in Spain in the days of very cheap air travel 😉

We've come a long way with a lots of things @Bambino in the last 121 years ; technology, education, medicine and health and the motor car all come to mind.

There are so many things that we take for granted that we not part of our grandparents' lives as children. 👍
