It's that time of year again.

@sheepdogcomes out of hibernation to join me and others like @RunrigForever  to comment on BBC's 'flagship' entertainment show. SCD.

I did wonder if it would take place this year as it's had some really bad press recently.

Two of the male professionals, Giovanni Pernice and Graziano Prima have been accused of abusive teaching methods. Giovanni has denied any wrongdoing. Last year he danced with Amanda Abington, who dropped out of the show. Graziano danced with Zara Larsson and he admitted kicking her. He was sacked immediately.

The BBC  have said they will be putting advisors into the training rooms to monitor all training and ensuring the welfare of the celebrities. So away we go again.

It doesn't start until September so I'll be adding to this thread as and when other celebs are revealed.

The first two contestants have been announced;

CHRIS McCAUSLAND - COMEDIAN

Chris is a really funny guy. He's also totally blind. As he said, this should be a laugh. 😂

The next contestant is JB GILL (from the boy band JLS)

Have to say it was a close thing in the dance-off for us. Shayne definitely better second time round and I thought the ending sequence was a bit lacking. Wynne improved and the way Katya reacted at the end of their dance, she knew it was over. But it's one of those dance-offs that provides a shocker and its rare for anyone to get past 3 dance-offs. I'd probably have saved Shayne based on the difficulty alone and as we all know, that's not a factor in the judges mind.

I'm guessing Wellhard's vote was the deciding factor in having Jamie avoid the dance-off this week but I'm more than convinced the voting is largely irrelevant this series.

Tess & Claudia in ok outfits though obvious lipstick swap or colour blindness. Boe-Ball were ok but did you see the size of those In-ear-Monitors Alfie Boe had in! Pro-dance elegant for the occasion though the annoying guitar scrape across the frets really aggravates me in the song.

Next week, the week that has been mentioned, seems to be a bit of a cheese-fest of tunes featuring The ketchup song, I'm too sexy and Never gonna give you up.

We have to remember one of Shaynes dance off's was due to him being trolled badly on social media. So not a true result.

Also we have to remember that Shirley made a comment 'One of the contestants did a far happier, more jolly dance??! So what a comparison. When has the so called 'Queen Of Rumba' ever thought a Rumba should be happy and jolly? As Craig said, it was a quandary but one couple made far less mistakes and that couple was Shayne and Nancy. Motsi agreed with far more to say.

Poor bloke must have thought he was home and dry when he received the first two votes.

Also, as my other half says repeatedly, how can you have a casting vote with 4 judges?!

He thinks and I agree, if you have a tied vote you should go for the public vote.

Heartbreaking. Shayne had far more to give.

Shirley must use GoCompare a lot.

Since posting, I've checked social media. 100's of posts, all bar two saying Shayne was robbed.

Getting really really pee'd off with this show  now.

By the way @sheepdog, I'm away from Thursday to Monday on Blackpool week.(This coming weekend)

It's a rock and roll weekend so I won't see the show on Saturday or the dance off on 'Sunday'

I have always had the opinion you need an odd number of judges on a panel ... = ... SCD have occasionally had a guest judge in the past ... & ... it totally worked for me. Donny Ozmond who may have won USA Dancing with the Stars and also Jennifer Grey who was in the very successful / romantic film 'Dirty Dancing' ....... It cuts down the time the judges spout 'Guff' ....... Marks should be on Merit and we all know SCD is Not a Level Playing Field ....... For me Pete + Chris + Wynne in SCD final ............... Just Please, Pretty Please NOT the 2 'bimbboe$' ....... both of whom are carried by their excellent professional dancing partners of Aljaz & Vito ....... XXX ....... slight_smile

Blackpool next week ... = ... Should be Interesting ....... !!! ....... XXX ....... slight_smile

It's a good job we can agree to disagree @RunrigForever.

I do not want to see Wynne in the final. I think he's Shirley's favourite (she never has a female favourite) so he certainly wasn't the best in the dance off and she voted for him for an absolutely stupid reason.

I predict next week it will be Wynne and Jamie in the dance off.

Well ....... Dancing to What Musical Trash is out Tomorrow ... ?

Gotta be Chris & Dianne to win ..... followed by Pete & Jowita ... who I believe have now announced their engagement ... ? ............... Fair Play to those 4 People .............. SCD desperately needs a massive overhaul ............... the outraged fans are taking over the show = these incensed fans who know Ruddy Now't Abah't Couple Dancing ... !!!

Wynne seems a decent man who has never danced before, & him and partner Katya do dance as a couple ....... as do the above 2 couples I'd like to see go all the way to SCD final 2 couples xx slight_smile

As if you didn't know, saturday is Blackpool week so expect things to be big and the return of backing dancers to fill the vast open void of the Blackpool tower ballroom floor.

So here's the list:

  • Montell Douglas and Johannes Radebe - Salsa to Don’t Leave Me This Way by Thelma Houston
  • Sarah Hadland and Vito Coppola - Couple’s Choice to Padam Padam by Kylie Minogue
  • Tasha Ghouri and Aljaž Škorjanec - Paso Doble to Torn by Nathan Lanier
  • Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell - American Smooth to Jump by Paul Anka
  • Jamie Borthwick and Michelle Tsiakkas - Jive to The Ketchup Song (Aserejé) by Las Ketchup
  • JB Gill and Lauren Oakley - Quickstep to Never Gonna Give You Up by Rick Astley
  • Pete Wicks and Jowitza Przystal - Cha Cha to I’m Too Sexy by Right Said Fred
  • Wynne Evans and Katya Jones - Charleston to Carmen Suite No.1: 5.Les toréadors by Georges Bizet

Bit of a floor stomper for Montell there though good decision on not doing the Communards cover.

CC for Sarah to a slightly weird choice for Blackpool. Intriguing. Cue loads of backing dancers.

And what could be the perfect combo of the night and to the floor, Tasha's tune is rather striking and surprise, not a dance remix and Paso perfect.

I love that Paul Anka version of Van Halen's jump. Remember seeing it a few years ago and it was brilliant. Big band big number big scores?

Jamie's tune is cheese. Bottom two because he needs to be there and doing the jive in Blackpool bouncy castle isn't going to help him at all.

After last weeks performance, we expect the same to the classic Rick Roll for JB. May be touch less than perfect expected.

Another cheese filled filler for Pete doing I'm too sexy. Well you know it's going to be fun and lets see if he can be less serious and embrace the camp of the song in the perfect place to do it.

I'm putting Wynne in the bottom two because of last week being saved incorrectly. Good tune for a charleston and should suit his characterisation perfectly. Oddly, being a joyous tune with less technique to go wrong, he'll likely be saved again.

The Pet Shop Boys better not be applying for the award of MMA. Whilst I'd prefer they do the 12" version of Suburbia (which is epic and one my favourites ever) or even What I have done to deserve this, we're probably going to get All the young dudes which is a David Bowie inspired number.

My other half was mightily impressed with that version of Jump by Paul Anka. He wrote so many songs.

Hope Chris and Dianne do well.

Pete and Jowita have denied rumours of being engaged. Have stated they are just good friends. Let's hope he does justice to I'm Too sexy 😂

Not a Kylie fan so had to check Padam Padam for Sarah and Vito

The music (Torn) is just perfect for a Paso. I hope Tasha and Aljaz do it justice.

Pity JB is dancing to Rick Astley as I can't stand him (RIck, not JB)

I'm hoping Jamie and Wynne are in the bottom two!

A reminder that I won't see either show as I'm away. 😖

Good job us 3 regular contributors agree to disagree ....... innit ... mates ?! .......xxx ..... slight_smile

The Good Lord Above Please Pretty Please SAVE ME from Boring Blonde BimboeE$'s ....... ?!

The 2 still in SCD are only still there because of the superior talent on the dance floor of their professional dancing partners

wynne is way better than most people think .......his posture for one ..... he stands tall and shows off his professional partner Katya very well indeed ....... he can cope very very well with Katya's inspiring choreography ..... = ..... they dance really really well as a couple.

Chris & Dianne = What can I say ....... Outstanding Couple ..... their midriff contact in hold is Phenomenol ... !!!

Who have I left out ?

Jamie ....... we he is forgettable as far as I can see ....... Getting my new spectacles from Specsavers today = Yippee !!!

Let the 2 blonde binboe$'s fight / scrag it out in the Danceoff ....... !!!

BTW Christmas Show would have been recorded in say July or thereabouts = it usually is ....... ?!

Perfect timing for a Spoiler to Upset the Applecart of what is degenerating into a Farce not Flagship show of BBC One

Roll on Saturday ....... I hope to enjoy the delights Blackpool Tower Ballroom will bring ....... have been there many times = but not competed. Just enthralled by Top Class Dancers.

Have competed and enjoyed myself at Blackpool Winter Gardens, being restored, I believe ....... xx ..... slight_smile

Just a bit of Celeb gossip here.

The lovely Oti Mabuse (my fave female professional ex SCD.) is joining others in 'I'm A Celebrity get me out of Here'.....which starts on ITV on Sunday night. Wishing her well with the cockroaches, spiders, rats, snakes and other creepy crawlies they have to endure in that show. 😂

Was there an I'm A Celeb thread last year, or did it just pop up in others?
