George Michael has died today age 53.
I don't damn well believe this. Was just watching him doing the Band Aid single today
R.I.P. George

Whatever anyone thought of his lifestyle etc...fact remains there are musicians (particularly those from the 60's) who abused their bodies far more than George Michael did. He had a superb voice and was never afraid to take the mickey out of himself. He earned millions and gave substantial amount of his fortune to children's charities. He also put on a free concert at the Roundhouse for NHS nurses to thank them for the care they gave to his mum. For anyone interested there is a tribute to him tomorrow night BBC1 at 10pm. They will be showing one of his concerts xx

These words from Brian May.....
"I don't have the words.
This year has cruelly taken so many fine people way too young.
And George?
That gentle boy?
All that beautiful talent?
Can't begin to compute this.
RIP George.
Sing with Freddie. And the Angels."

@Cleoriff those words 'Sing with Freddie. And the Angels' ... got me tearful
George's untimely leaving us was the top item on The World Tonight 10pm BBC Radio 4 last night ... much was made of his concert in China, the 1st by a Western band & how he desperately tried to get the audience dancing only for the police to put the people back in their seats ... it was a balanced report ... I liked the man & his music ... particularly 'Wake Me Up Before You Go Go' with Wham ... & ... the one he did with Aretha Franklin ... very sad for one so young

It looks as if Sir Elton John will be singing at his funeral....Rumour has it that it will be the duet they did together. 'Don't let the sun go down on me' Very poignant if true....

Now that will be a truly poignant moment. The more I read about George Michael, the more I think about him as a person....

As I said Steve...his transgressions received massive publicity.....his kindness and charity donations are only just coming to light.....I thought he was a smashing bloke, and a singer with a beautiful voice. ...
