Finally the self tying laces featured in Back to the Future part 2 are becoming a reality. I for one have been waiting for these since I first saw the movie. Surprisingly hover boards beat the self lacing shoes to the shops. Smiley Very Happy

Well, I guess it's like that, and that's the way it is.

Slightly old fashioned here ...but kids never learn how to do up shoelaces...what with velcro straps and now these..

Then they start playing football or rugby and look right berks. Believe me I have first hand experience of this...

And yes 'It's like that'.....Hero

Another family member (age 4) has never seen a shoelace in her life @Martin-O2. Recently started school and yes has nice little black school shoes ...with velcro straps. I hope she doesn't want to do ballet, tap or even play football..... I suppose if she plays netball she could wear trainers....(with velcro) Rolleys

That's crazy! You definitely need a proper shoe lase for most sporting activities. When I was at school velcro shoes would get you beaten up!

I am not saying youngsters never learn to tie shoelaces....but they do learn much later than I did. ..

I  have bought young family members Converse boots in the past.  They love them but struggle to do laces up therefore will always choose the easy option.

Velcro has come a long way. When I was nursing, velcro shoes and slippers were used for a certain type of patient for ease of access. This is probably the reason why I fail to see the 'trendiness' nowadays...LOL

PS...purely a personal opinion.... (and not meant to deviate from the Power Lace topic...)
