Hi all.

Encouraged by 2 fab community members to create this new topic. Hope you like.
Thought this could be a nice space to share some of the poems we have written and inspire each other with our creativity. Poems are a way for me to voice whats going on in my head especially when my anxiety has left me feeling somewhat foggy headed.

Hope you enjoy reading and sharing your work.

Pennywren 😊

@Anonymous i am thinking this is the one you mean:

The silver birch is a dainty lady,
She wears a satin gown;
The elm tree makes the old churchyard shady,
She will not live in town.

The English oak is a sturdy fellow,
He gets his green coat late;
The willow is smart in a suit of yellow,
While brown the beech trees wait.

Such a gay green gown God gives the larches –
As green as He is good!
The hazels hold up their arms for arches,
When Spring rides through the wood.

The chestnut’s proud and the lilac’s pretty,
The poplar’s gentle and tall,
But the plane tree’s kind to the poor dull city –
I love him best of all!

@Anonymous

Was it this one?

THE TREES
We grew on mountains where the glaciers cry,
Infinite sombre armies of us stood
Below the snow-peaks which defy the sky;
A song like the gods moaning filled our wood;
We knew no men—our life was to stand staunch,
Singing our song, against the avalanche.

If so, it was one poem among many called The Ship and Her Makers

There was another one about Bluebells where they mention Trees. Just googled it  Lol.

That's a very powerful poem @Cleoriff

Yes @Pennywren that's the poem you have posted. Not so strange perhaps that my old memory regarding the poet, plays strange games with me

Thank you very much @Pennywren

Community Forums - quizzes and prose,
People in trouble, as well, I suppose.
Poems a plenty;
Japes, not meant tae,
Cause pain, or tears or tantrums, those.

And then: Poetry Corner, a wee li'l nook
For those who need to share or look
At verse
No worse
Than scribbles in a forgotten school book!

So come, dear reader, partake and imbibe
Of others' impressions, jottings and scribe
Your own perhaps;
No fuss or scraps!
Anything goes - just add your own vibe!

You can't knock a good limerick, bawdy or otherwise, @Pennywren rofl

That's brilliant @pgn 😃
Never tried writing a limerick 🤔
Think I will stick to poetry lest I fall over my own tongue trying to get my words out 🤣

Dawn

The sun rises on a cold crisp day,

Frost glittering on bare branches.

As the sun hits all,

Everything glows.

A lone bird sings in a tree,

Welcoming the new dawn.

Things begin to stir,

Waking up, stretching,

Shaking off the last of sleep.

Frost sparkles on flowers,

Each one like shining stars.

Young blades of grass,

All fresh and green,

Reach for the sky,

Eager to be seen.

Snowdrops nod their snowy heads

As a cheeky breeze dances past.

Sunbeams arch across the sky,

Scattering the darkness,

Bringing light, warmth and hope.

The warm glow of the sun,

Stirs up the earth,

Gently beckoning,

"The days are getting longer,

Each step is getting brighter,

Look forward, not back,

the new day is here!"

The call of spring has been heard.

Another lovely poem, @Pennywren

Thank you for posting.

I tried to write something earlier but failed to put anything together.

The Words Won`t Come

The moving finger writes

And pauses on the page

The words won`t come

Muddled in my brain.

Doodle in the corner,

Sketches down the side,

But words won`t come.

Nothing comes to mind.

Notebook tossed aside.

Look through the window

To the world outside.

The birds are singing,

Trees sway in breeze,

The sun is shining.

Inspiration is all around.

Grab the notebook

And turn the page

To write once more

As words come again.
