What a beautiful poem @Pennywren. I can picture it all vividly'
I love the changing of leaf colours in Autumn. Probably one of the most beautiful sights. When I was younger, I would have loved a trip to Vermont in the US, just to take in the wonder of it all.
Instead this will have to do.

Hi @Pennywren
Lovely to have you back with us and hugs to you too.
I love your poem "Autumn" - captures the season and coming weather beautifully, your words creating images in my head. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Welcome back, @Pennywren. Thank you for the kinds words, and thanks to everyone else.
I love your poem, Autumn, too 🍂. On my long train journey yesterday from London to Wales, I spent a lot of it staring out the window and seeing the nature you describe. And as soon as I set foot off that train, I felt the crisp autumn air that you mentioned.
Thank you for sharing. I'll try to find some time to write a new one this weekend, or if not, I'm sure I have some older ones I can share too 😊.

*I'm me*
Acceptance is hard
That I know well.
It's something I fight for every day.
I may not be pretty
I may not be smart
But in the end I'm still me.
At times I'm a coward
And I let people down
But in the end I'm still me.
If you look past the shyness
The glasses, the self doubt,
The fear
You will see who I really am
I'm a softie at heart
An empathic soul.
I yearn for acceptance
From others,
From myself.
My desire is simple
To help those in need
To reach out my hand
To guide, to support.
I may not be special
I may not be wise
I may not like what I see in me
But in the end I'm still me.
I need to accept that
And not try to change
And lose who I am
For the sake of others.
In the end I am me
And that I can't change
But acceptance is key
To see past the dark
And look for the hope
Instead of seeing no light.
I am who I am
All my flaws
All my faults
I may disappoint you
Or let you down
But in the end I'm still me

Lovely poem @Pennywren but with my psychology head on and from what you have told us before, you really have no need to try hard for the acceptance of others. You appear to be a lovely hard working person with many gifts. The cards you make and the poems you write show me that you are just great as you are. If some people expect you to change then they aren't worth bothering about. As you say in your poem 'I'm Me'.
Just as it should be. No need to conform to anyone else's expectations. ❤️

*remember*
The days gone by
And past experiences
The good, the bad, the ugly.
Each one molds us,
Changes us,
No matter how we feel.
Do we let our past define us
Or let our future lift us?
Who are we really?
The little lost child,
The lonesome teen?
Or the adult who embraces it all.
Don't let the past anchor us
And hold us from our dreams.
Let hope blossom inside our hearts
So dreams become reality.
The fear of change
The fear of new
Can hold us back.
Embrace it all,
Own our lives.
The future is ours to hold.

Lovely poem again @Pennywren. I think each part of our lives, the good and the bad makes us what we are today. Some things we need to overcome and meet challenges head on.

Lovely poem @Pennywren
I liked it, and the last line
- The future is ours to hold
is a positive way of seeing things.

Happy New Year all the lovely people here 🥳
*new year*
The countdown has happened,
Fireworks set off,
And explosion of colour and light.
We have said goodbye to 2021 and hello to 2022.
New calendars opened,
A fresh page,
A new start.
The year has reset
What will it hold?
Do you make resolutions?
Or go with the flow?
Big plans for the year?
Each day holds possibilities,
Which path will you take?
Use each day,
To create your reality.
Cherish each moment.
It's clean slate,
A fresh start.
Take your dreams,
Cast them to the stars
And see the magic unfold
As stardust raise down,
A crystalline shower
Of magic and light.
