How can it be identified that any thread has actually been read rather than just "marked as read" ?

That's all i'm going to say on it as i'm bored of all of these debates whereby there's mostly novice people wanting to chat to other members and have some kind of input vs the people who think that they own the site and want everything their way.
Enjoy the debate guys
Hi @gemz4the1
Theirs a cross broad section of people who visit here who have different views on how they would like to use the Community Forum.
I'm hopeful that we as a community have the foresight and flexibility to be able to accommodate as many members as possible to continue to provide help , tips and knowledge as well as bringing a little bit of warmth and depth with the Off Topic Section where reasonable subject material can be created too.
I feel for the O2 Site Management and Moderators who strive to help keep all here as happy as possible. 😄

Honestly I'm not sure.
All I see is the amount of views.
Hopefully sometime in the near future we will have the Filters that have been spoken about previously, where a member can set up their own preferences on what they want to view.

To add something here about the Virtual Lounge. @Anonymous spoke to Toby about starting something like this. She saw Wanty's as a virtual bar...and felt the need for a virtual lounge where people could chat and gossip during the day. (IF THEY WANTED TO)
Toby encouraged Wispared to go for it and so she set it up....with the support of management.
It is open to all. It is also up to individuals as to whether they choose to post in there.
It isn't 'owned' by one person or indeed a select few...It is for everyone.....

Also.... I think there is a distinct difference between topics that have been read...and those that remain unanswered.
I read a lot of topics. If they are of no interest to me, I wont post on the thread. I think @jonsie was actually talking about the number of unanswered threads...?
(Which probably shows a lack of interest in them?)

whats the point in having an "off topic" section if everything needs to be o2 related?

just to confirm that @Cleoriff is absolutely correct in what she says above, it was how it happened

Quite...open to all where anything except technical queries can be discussed so why the need for further off topic threads.....?
