O2 Community v Facebook

Time for a debate people.

My question is this. Should threads on o2 Community have a reasonable connection to o2?

There has been another batch of Facebook style threads start recently. Is o2 Community the right place?

I worry it might one day turn into twitter, then by the time you get into a detailed description of what's going on, the 140 letter limit wi

I think everyone knows my feelings on this but hey, it's a democratic society we live in supposedly. Each to their own and personally I feel a debate will achieve  nothing but ill feelings amongst various members with cries of bullying being spouted both here and to admin.
Off topic is there if you want it, it will stay there so just carry on folks. If a subject in off topic is worthy of comment I will do so. If not, neither I nor the thread will lose out.
I ask only that we leave the BBC news where it belongs rather than rehashing it here just for the sake of upping post count.

No apologies needed @traceyjs1975. As I said I referred to that one purely as an example and it was the first one in my thread.

As for the comment elsewhere about off topic, my opinion is that off topic should still be o2 related.

If you want social media, go to a social media platform before this Community is destroyed by a significant number of posts that have nothing to do with o2 or mobile technology. People come here initially because they have an issue, not to find out what people had for breakfast or what tv they watch

Why? There have been countless threads about this with strong feelings in various posts which are then promptly deleted and members issued with warnines.

Hi jonsie,

I'm simply saying that I'm glad that members can create these debates. Piper's OP is a nicely-worded, constructive post and I think replies have been pretty constructive so far. Anything that has ever been removed has been done in relation to our guidelines. If you have an issue with anything that has been removed, don't hesitate to send me a PM and I'll explain. Let's ensure that we remain on the topic of Off-topic content here however.

Cries of bullying? Surely not? Who would make such allegations? ???

As we all know I post what I hope is interesting news related to Technology/ Phones / Tablets and Operating Systems.

I also hope if someone performs a Google Search and gets the Community Forum as a hit they may come here and learn ,and possibly join if they are an O2 Customer.

What confuses me and always has is the comment on "upping post count" ?

Does post counts mean that much to people to get a new rank name ?

Doesn't posting in "Wantys" or "The Virtual Lounge" go far more to upping a persons post count ?

Off Topic discussions has generated lots of informative and interesting debates and discussions.

Not to everyone's taste or interest I submit ,but we do have a broad cross section of people who like to use the 'Community' Forum in different ways. 😄

I'll just point you to unanswered topics, topics where the OP has posted so it won't remain unanswered and topiCS where only 2 friends have to out in your words 'engaged'.

Wants and it's predecessor have been going far longer than your good self and was the original off topic where nothing technical was posted. It's not post upping. Like minded people have been posting there for years and friendships established unlike some days where silly news items have been posted

I wonder who has started most threads on the community?

I will refrain from further comment on this thread otherwise admin will be forced to step in.

As this is a frank and open debate please keep posting here.

As you once said in a previous thread that was since removed you've made a decision not to post in my news threads , and that's fine. That's yours and other people's decisions not to do so.

If I further add to one of my created threads then I do this to try and further enhance the information with updates ,or more information.

I'm not overly concerned if a reply is not forthcoming if it's been read. A reply is not always necessary I believe.

Yes Wanty's and the previous version has been going along time ,but the debate here started by @Anonymous is to only have topics reasonably related, which is why I highlighted it.

You say it's not Post Upping in Wanty's ,which is a fair reasonable statement. But then on the flip side it is also fair to state people who post News Tech and other non related material are also not Post Upping.
