This looks interesting.

A cable which backs up your data as it charges has been produced by a British firm...

The Meem cable is designed to make a copy of your phone contacts, photos and more every time you plug it in to charge.

The video in the link is fascinating...

I have reservations about storing everything on this. Simple idea but many are. I use all sorts of storage these days, multiple devices backed up to Google, OneDrive, Dropbox, external hard drive, USB sticks etc...

That's pretty cool
I can see the appeal it will have to those who don't always have access to cloud backup or, as said in video don't fully trust the cloud.

Interesting concept, but the video and article never said how much data the device could actually store.

There is another article here @Bambino I think from reading the FAQ's the cable has different storage capacities?

"MEEM will back up both the handset’s internal memory and removable memory (if any), providing the total data to be backed-up is not greater than your MEEM memory size. MEEM is also capable of handling multiple SD cards so even if the user swaps SD cards the data will continue to be stored securely".

https://www.meemmemory.com/faq/

(Actually for me, the FAQ's made very interesting reading.) By the way the device costs £49.99

Thanks for the links @adamtemp64 and @Cleoriff

Isn't it really something similar to this, if you wanted to use an sd card?

I think the unique part of the meem is that it's a passthrough cable that allows the backup while charging.
Also good to see pin secured encryption too natively in the cable.
