Talking about Ostrich Eggs ... ... ... just triggered an infant school memory ... there was an ostrich egg in Miss Kilburn's class ... it was massive ... this was in the times when each class had a 'nature table' ... this egg was on a high shelf, I suppose so's us kids could not reach it & damage it or the lads try to play rugby with it

Ostrich eggs, we had three with hand-painted scenes on them, and a little hole where the contents had been blown out. Picked up in Khartoum in the 60s, I suspect.

I hope @Poppysmum isn't looking for a recipe to boil those.

Looked how to cook Dragon eggs and found this
Bring to a boil, remove from heat, and let eggs stand in hot water for 15 minutes. Drain hot water and fill saucepan with cold water; allow eggs to sit until cooled, 15 to 20 minutes. Drain water. Gently tap or roll eggs on the counter so the shell is cracked but still intact.

I can be a bit of a pig at times but no way could I manage a whole ostrich egg in one sitting!
Send a portion my way ๐
We'll split it @jonsie. That's about 12 chicken eggs each. Much more manageable!
