IOC: Russian Athletes

What a farce this is turning out to be.

Earlier this month The World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) had recommended all Russian athletes be banned from the Rio Olympics after its independently commissioned report found evidence of a "four-year state sponsored doping programme" across the vast majority of Olympic sports.

The IOC made a decison to ban some athletes but then, in rather a cowardly move, passed on the responsibility to the individual governing sports bodies. (In other words " you decide....we wont!")

Now 5 days before the start of the games we are told the IOC has convened a 'three person panel' who will make a final, final final decision on the recommendations made by the individual sports bodies.

I think this smacks of hypocrisy and fear......?

I blame sports agents, Sky and any other TV companies willing to pay big money for broadcasting rights.

Money and profit has encouraged the "sports" people to do whatever it takes to win and be successful.

The IOC are expected to allow 270 Russian athletes to compete in the Olympics........Final results by the end of today....(the total athletes from Russia was 387)

Any Russian winning any medal will not be recognised in Germany's medal tables I read a while back. One way I suppose but it seems these games will be remembered for all the wrong reasons.

There is an outcry about from many of the  'clean' athletes. One said 'we may as well say the findings and recommendations of WADA were wrong and should be ignored'. Over 2/3 of the total Russian team allowed to compete?... I think politics played a massive part in this. Nothing to do with sport at all. The IOC are a joke
