What a farce this is turning out to be. Evil

Earlier this month The World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) had recommended all Russian athletes be banned from the Rio Olympics after its independently commissioned report found evidence of a "four-year state sponsored doping programme" across the vast majority of Olympic sports.

The IOC made a decison to ban some athletes but then, in rather a cowardly move, passed on the responsibility to the individual governing sports bodies. (In other words " you decide....we wont!")

Now 5 days before the start of the games we are told the IOC has convened a 'three person panel' who will make a final, final final decision on the recommendations made by the individual sports bodies.Smiley Mad

I think this smacks of hypocrisy and fear......?

Yes.... as said the IOC is a damn joke......ban the 'weak and vulnerable' as they may be on medication TO ALLEVIATE pain and symptoms associated with their condition.

Here it is..official news banning all Russian paralympic team...Double standards I think ....The IOC wouldn't ban all of the Russian athletes. 70% are competing.   The Paralympic Committee (IPC) had no such qualms

Well now it's official and an appeal will take two years :

I wish someoneone could explain to me why the obvious cheats were allowed to compete while CAS have backed the IPC in banning paralympians from Russia. Smacks of double standards and all too easy to come down hard on disabled people.

To be honest I felt the IPC showed more courage than the IOC. I am pleased CAS upheld the ban.

The evidence was there and proven. The IOC decided to wuss out. The IPC did not.

This does seem to be an ongoing problem in the games in particular. You don't seem to see it as much in the major team sports.

Is that because the major team sports are just ignoring it?

I think the IPC showed some balls and then got punished for it with the $63m shortfall.  Utter mess... gutted for those who have trained for years (especially after 2012) to get this far and then have all the crap.  Welcome back to the 1980s...

I've no idea but it's a good possibility. There's so much money, especially in football I wouldn't be surprised.

In football for instance, there are only random tests. I wonder what the outcome would have been if all the players at the last world cup were tested rather than the odd one from each time? I swear England must have been doped up....
