So the new season will start in March and Australia was planned as usual to be the opening track. Now it looks set to be cancelled. (March 21st)

I have heard via someone who lives in Australia that although Covid related, nothing to do with that per se. More due to the fact, they are not prepared to run it without spectators. It's a street circuit and they make millions from the fans and ticket prices.

I'm inclined to agree with that. The Covid Bubble teams have put in place seemed to work well, 3 drivers out of 20 catching a mild dose and 3 team staff...

It means that the Bahrain Grand Prix scheduled for 28 March now looks poised to become the 2021 season opener.

Okay Silverstone this weekend. Can't remember the last time Hamilton wasn't favourite to win. Bookies have it: Verstappen 8/11, Hamilton 6/4, Bottas & Perez 12/1, Norris 40/1. Can't see anything but a Verstappen win I'm afraid to say, but going for Norris at 40/1 e/w, because I would love to see a Norris (And McLaren) Win and I'm waving the British flag ( And it's potential 55 nicker!)

Bottas 12/1?... If he wins I'll eat my hat!

I think we have to see what upgrades have been brought by Mercedes to Silverstone( which when they announced they would bring them.) I wouldn't start writing Hamilton off just yet!

AS for this ridiculous timetable./ What the hell do they think they are playing at? GB 'The Home of F1' and looking at this you could be anywhere in the word but the UK!!

I have 6 people going for the weekend and are horrified to see these time changes

FP1 at 2pm instead of 10am.

Qualifying just when people have arrived from home.

Sat no FP3 (replaced by the Sprint race)...and the RACE ITSELF....starting at 3pm....THREE 3PM??!

What a mess up.

@Cleoriff I'm glad you posted that time schedule, I had no idea all this was happening! I normally check on Sky Sports Website for the times etc. But did not expect Q on a Friday - Is Friday Q for both races?

I will have to check this out Confused

THe Sprint qualifying @Anonymous forms the grid for Sunday.

I don't get it, so will have to watch it before I do. All you need to know is here..

@Cleoriff Yeah, you have Practice 1 & GP Q on Friday then a sprint Q & Race on Saturday after Practice 2 (After GP Q on Friday???) on Saturday. Wow that's a bit radical, but maybe the new format (& confusion) for this race can only really help Hamilton if the Mercedes is still a bit slower then RB - Hopefully.

EDIT: Right after reading the F1 link it's as follows: Friday - Practice 1 for setups then GP Q > Cars go to Parc Ferme > Saturday Practice 2 (One set of tyres of choice only) > Sprint Q + Sprint Race > Cars go to Parc Ferme > Sunday - Race

Some changes are permitted for safety like brakes etc or minor damage.

This is going to be interesting to say the least.
