So the new season will start in March and Australia was planned as usual to be the opening track. Now it looks set to be cancelled. (March 21st)

I have heard via someone who lives in Australia that although Covid related, nothing to do with that per se. More due to the fact, they are not prepared to run it without spectators. It's a street circuit and they make millions from the fans and ticket prices.

I'm inclined to agree with that. The Covid Bubble teams have put in place seemed to work well, 3 drivers out of 20 catching a mild dose and 3 team staff...

It means that the Bahrain Grand Prix scheduled for 28 March now looks poised to become the 2021 season opener.

**BREAKING NEWS**

Hamilton signs new 2 year contract with Mercedes

Good job. I wonder why they didn't announce it at Silverstone. Maybe announce the 2nd driver there (If it's going to be Russell)

I reckon Red Bull had a bit more time in P2 if they wanted it, hopefully I'm wrong, but I can't see how Mercedes can be faster in less than a week at the same track. But we will see in an hour or two.

Verstappen on pole, I reckon if he had put his best lap down today he would have had half a second on Hamillton.

Brilliant qualifying by Norris to get second place on the grid - But where was Ricciardo...

Qualifying.  Shock for Mercedes. Mixed feeling really. Brilliant to see all those in Orange cheering for Max. Norris what a blinder he played... on P2 and Perez in 3rd. Lewis 4th and Bottas 5th

Ricciardo? I bet he wished he had never moved from Red Bull!

They just showed the Q3 lap between Lando and Max and Lando just lost a little on the final lap.

Max actually wasn't happy as he realised how close he came to losing pole.

@Cleoriff Didn't you hear Norris say all the orange in the crowd was for McLaren? rofl

@Cleoriff Verstappen wasn't expecting Norris to get so close but he knew he had Mercedes covered, like I said I think he could have found more if he needed it. Mercedes are way behind Red Bull now and letting Norris get in the mix too is really bad for Mecedes (Or maybe not if something happens at the start) But Mecedes are really going backwards. Also Hamilton did not have a good Q anyway imo, he was only just faster than Bottas.

@Anonymous

Max was NOT a happy bunny. Did you hear him say over the radio 'Don't you ever do that to me again!!'

He was referring to being sent out first therefore not getting the benefit of the tow. Which meant he nearly lost pole to Norris. I think that was a bit arrogant if honest. His team mate got the tow instread which put him up to 3rd. Fair better set up for Max than having either Merc in the mix.
