Downgrading, have you?

I bought a 49 inch smart tv last year and I’ve realised that it’s just too damn big for my living room, it uses far too much electricity (63w) it’s totally ruining my carbon footprint and takes up a hell of a lot of room. So I’ve decided to downgrade & purchased a 24” smart tv(23w) (Which means I have to sell my current (huge) tv stand & get a taller / smaller one)

So I’m wondering, in this day and age of bigger is better (and more expensive) have you ever downgraded, or gone smaller? And for what reason?

I’m glad that someone else has.. people I’ve asked while deciding what to do think I’m insane for even thinking about it.

And to be fair I’d like a smaller phone too. This 6S Plus doesn’t fit in my back pocket, but with a smaller phone I’d struggle to read the screen (I’m sooo old) so I’ll have to stick to 5.5 at least!

Hi @Anonymous
I wouldn't want to go smaller put mine on wall 40" fed up of the old 21" tube that was electric guzzling. The 24 inch should be fine though.

Downgrading? I've yet to upgrade my 28" CRT and thats over 18 years old! Works fine with a HDMI to Scart adapter with the Chromecast, the PS3 and everything else I throw at it. Literally. It won't die so I won't buy a new one till it does. Then again, I have streaming apps set up on my iPad Mini so may not even buy a new one to replace.

Its not the main TV though which is a 55" LCD but watching shows and films is more engaging on a older TV than watching in big HD one to me.

Tubes... CRT.. now there's a blast from the past! And it’s crazy to think that it works fine with HDMI!

I'm now wondering what the average size is for a household (careful!!)

Hope you have 20/20 vision @Anonymous I could be able to concentrate on such a small screen.

I'll happily stick to the 40 inch screen I have so as to be able to see and concentrateon what's happening onscreen.

tbf I’m having to sit a bit closer to the tv but once I’m used to it... it’ll be fine!
