thank you @Bambino & @Cleoriff
I have the basic Kindle bought by me to treat myself 2 years ago on a big birthday
I havn't used it often, but I don't wish it to be useless
I have not had an email from Amazon, where I bought it from
I can't find the charger
I shall take it in tomorrow to my friendly town laptop centre man to see if he can help ... I'm useless when downloading / updating stuff as I was with Windows 10, now sorted by nice man in town

Good thing to update everyone on @Bambino! Nicely done.
@Cleoriff, I'm contemplating getting a Kindle. I assume you would recommend? The Kobos look nice too.

They are certainly a lot cheaper now then when I bought my Kindle Fire when it was first released. (£49.99 now as opposed to £109 Back in 2011)
However, I only ever bought it as a book library for travel to Spain...Personally I prefer 'real books' so it isn't used as much as it should be. ... Having said all that, it has gone into my case for travel tomorrow.
@Bambino's link gave me 'a shot in the arm'.....

Yes there is nothing like the smell and feel of a book...
....but I have over 200 books in device weighing 400 grammes, backlit so there is no need disturb others in the same bed at night and with the ability to access wifi with any number of apps and films.
As a travelling accessory there is no equal, get the latest books downloaded instantly for half the price of a paper copy, it's amust have for me since I purchased one some five years ago. I even had one shipped by Amazon to Thailand in 3 days after an unfortunate accident with my original.

The biggest joke for me...
.... A couple of years ago I travelled to Spain with family. I had the kindle and a lot of 'real' books. No-one in the family had ever thought of buying a Kindle. Sitting by the pool I read my books...the grandson used my Kindle...when he finished for the day, someone else picked it up to read another book. So yes I know the sense of a using a Kindle.....but I have no sense at all when it comes to buying books....
