O2 Community 2019 Advent Calendar

Hi everyone,

When the skies are grey and the air chilly, there isn't much that makes me feel better than a hot bowl of soup. It's delicious, easy(?), heartwarming and also quite literally warming too, and the possibilities as endless!

Soup making

Pretty much anything can go in a soup: think of a vegetable, a pulse, meat, a bean or a spice, and chances are, it can be combined with a few other ingredients and turned into a tasty bowl of goodness! In fact soups are so versatile that sometimes it's hard to decide on which direction to take with them.

As I'm personally still just starting my cooking experiences and trying to evolve them from just heating up frozen vegetables and fish fingers in the oven, and in case of soups specifically, heating up some canned chicken broth in the microwave, it would be lovely to hear what you guys are making this Christmas period to feel inspired. slight_smile

What are some of your favourite soup recipes? Do you have any ingredient, seasoning, or tip that you love to use when making or simply eating a soup? What do you have together with the soup, if anything?

Ah but it's condensed so you get double the soup. Works at 50p...

Condensed soup! Another thing I haven't come across yet! Unless you count powdered soup where you just add water, but the look of that can tells me it might be liquid.

No @Marjo condensed soup is very very thick. So it means you can have a double portion. That means it's very cheap to buy.

Got it. slight_smile Could be handy to stock up the cupboards with a few of those!

@liggerz87 Those are great! slight_smile I often actually have tomato soup as a "cup soup" where you just pour hot water on the powder and that's it. I like to dunk toast in it!

Yes @Marjo
Think Campbells are very good quality. Have a great variety of Condensed soups. How it works you open can empty contents into pan then fill the can again with fresh cold water and put that in too mix gently together and heat on cooker. I find that putting the water in can cleans the can and uses all the contents too. Very handy to put in stock.

I have often added them to casseroles @Marjo (for instance chicken) and they do make a lovely dish.

For info, here is the whole range of Campbells condensed soups

NB please note the Marvel character soups as you scroll down...wink
