I always found these two sayings to be wholely accurate:
If you want the best seat in the house, move the cat.
Dogs have owners, cats have servants.
Absolutely @gmarkj
I've owned both. Dogs give you so much love and loyalty, whilst cats wander off to any household which offers them food. They own you...

😞 Marty has come in with a right sorry do to his left ear this time - lots of blood clotted and scabbed ... it doesn't seem to be bothering him ... he is purring and I know cats purr when they are happy and when they are in pain
He goes out at night - I wish he wouldn't, but he won't use a litter tray and likes to go on adventures ... he is not an agressive cat, but will defend himself when attacked
Off to snuggle with him on my bed - to befefit us both.

If Marty allows it @Anonymous just try and bathe his ear with warm salted water. It will clean the gunk and stop any infection...

Marty is snuggled down on the carpet in my work room ... his ear scab has all come off and it looks clean and it is not bothering him at all ... he does sleep a lot during the day usually ... he likes to be in the room I am in and when I am out will settle down upstairs to suit himself
Really pleased Marty seems alright
Couldn't use the salt and warm water technique @Cleoriff but have it in mind for any future necessity
Am feeding him up as his haunches do look scrawny - his belly is getting bigger
My son and daughter-in-law's cat Juno can jump their new garden 2 metre fence! he is black / white and 10 years old, he was rescued by them 3 years ago ... he sports a belly too ... I have had to wedge back the yard gate as Marty can no longer jump over it ... he is 14.
Edited for spelling.
