It is one year ago today since I lost my lovely black wolf, Freddie. I was thinking of adopting a small dog from a shelter as it is truly horrendous in this flat without him.

I am looking at today, some lovely little ones.

@Seahorse

I know how hard it is at the anniversary of the loss of a lovely companion animal.

I noticed in your post you might be considering getting a dog from Dogs Trust. In the past, I had a dog from the rescue centre near where I used to live. She was lovely. As I can no longer care for an animal, I sponsor two dogs from Dogs Trust. I hope you are successful if you chose to take one in.

Hi @Seahorse
It's tough I know. Great you can offer a home to a dog. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks @Mi-Amigo

Freddie was from Dogs Trust so it was the first place I looked. He was brought down from Scotland where he was running wild but injured - he had a massive gash on his arm where someone had slashed him with broken glass. They healed him best they could and brought him down to Kennilworth (a perfect place for a dog shelter wiht a name like that!)

Even in his golden years, he would like the scar on his poor arm.

I think you should go for it @Seahorse  Dogs and cats bring so much joy and are a perfect companion when you are lonely. Also a brilliant idea to go to the Dogs Trust, giving a forever home to one of these dogs. Heart

We lost our cat last month after a sudden heart problem. He was 15.
My daughter was devastated when he went, and I am very grateful that we got the two kittens (they are 2 now, so not really kittens) when we did. Don't think the house would be the same without them.

I'd love to hear how it went at the Dogs Trust when you're back, @Seahorse, and hear about some of the dogs you might meet there. :slight_smile:

Very sorry to hear that @gmarkj

Cats like to think they are independant but they are just as much a part of the family as anyone else. I had two cats when I was first married - Lorien and Bilbo.
