Boris Johnson will resign as Tory leader today but will remain as PM until the Autumn.
He will continue to serve as prime minister until the autumn to allow a Tory leadership contest to take place

The jockeying for next leader and possibly PM began a while ago.
Sadly, without a major change to the way elections are held in GB, not much will change.
And don't ask me what benefit Boris gets from hanging on - he was one who wrote, very badly, about hunkering down in Downing Str with a previous PM:

Boris Johnson is now making his speech of resignation now at Downing Street.
(No hint that he has done anything wrong. He mentioned 'herd mentality'.)

Boris Johnson resigns as leader of the Tories but says he is going to stay as Prime Minister until new PM elected and has appointed new members of the Cabinet... see below and scroll down for Boris`s statement.

But it is worth noting that many Tories are not happy that Boris has not gone now and Labour are threatening to bring in a vote of no confidence in the House of Common, which means - if Boris was to lose - there will be a General Election.

Who will be the next Prime Minister, I wonder... 🤔

I can't understand why Labour would want rid of him
Boris could be the one person that would help their campaign at the next general election

And, after all, the Labour Party more or less wants what Conservative Party wants for the UK anyway. Eejits, both parties. 😖
