This article's author isn't too enthused about the idea. I tend to agree.

Mmmmhh......Mr Gilbert seems to have a "thing" about BT.....not unusual, but plenty of others are quite happy with them.

I found the article quite damning @Bambino I know the author has stats in front of them in order to write what they did......but in terms of BT I have had nothing but excellent service from them.

I can only speak from my personal experience of course...:smileywink:

I remember the BT of old and when I had dreadful broadband everyone locally was saying go BT but for months I didn't dare. Then eventually with download speeds of less than 0.25mb with Sky I bit the bullet.

So glad I did. Suddenly I was achieving 7mbs all day and all night. Then when fibre came I decided to treat myself to the top pack and at home I get 74mbs most of the time and nearly always over 60. On a couple of occasions I needed tech support, solved first time each time. Only one issue with BT was when I moved from adsl to fibre but that was easy enough once I got the right person.

So IMO BT much better than they ever were.

I guess it's always going to come down to personal preference and experience. The author is using Ofcom as his statistical source, so I don't think you could argue with that. I've had both good and bad experiences with BT and with Sky. In a month's time I'm about to embark on my first foray into the land of Virgin Media, so that will be interesting. I'm looking forward to my 152 MB download speed.

My last experience of BT?
Phone bill for £278 for calls made automatically on the hh2 digital phone.
Instead of the router calling for updates each night, the voip phone was doing it and staying connected for 59:59 each and every night.
By said I was responsible so I asked for a full itemised bill.
I then got a termination of services letter and a refund of 50 odd quid.
Very odd

I know it's 'up to'. Max I can get from BT at the moment is 38 MB because of my distance from the exchange, so down the cable is bound to be faster.
