I've heard and read so much about anorexia over the years but really? For reasons I won't divulge here, this condition was, and still is, very prominent in my life and to read uneducated comments by people in the public eye spouting stuff they have no knowledge of makes me so angry.

Day by day but some days you wake up without wanting to. So many things you can't control no matter how hard you try. Today is a bad day for me but who knows what tomorrow brings. I live in hope but sometimes I can't see a light at the end of the tunnel. I see people in the bar happy and I can lose myself in the atmosphere for a little while but then I go home alone. Do I eat or wallow in the loneliness and despair? Every day here is a challenge but hey, I'm still here....For now.

I think you'll find that anorexia and narcissism are both classified as mental health issues.

One could therefore make a connection between them in certain demographic classes.

Some adolescents are narcissistic and some anorexic, both illnesses begin in the formative years rather than in the mature years.

Narcisstic Personality Disorder is certainly classified under mental health.

Not sure Ms Bakewell had that level of knowledge when she made her statement. In fact later on in the article she seemed to be retracting her initial comment. Certainly she felt the need to explain it in greater detail...

Perhaps we should all know better than to give too much credence to what 82 year old peers have to say.
