Priority app update to Android 8 and above

I have just had a message from O2 to say that there is an update to the Priority app and phones must be updated to Android 8.0.0 or later but mine cannot update to that system.   

I really think this is unfair to just send a message and my Priority app is now no longer working.

It does say that I can still access  Priority online but that doesn't help with using the app on the mobile. 😠

It's unfortunate  I'm afraid

They call it progress with new features and a new design which older operating systems aren't able to access
