First question we always ask is, are you sure the phone is actually locked. O2 hasn't been locking phones for approx 2 years now. Best way to test, is to try another sim in the phone.
If it's locked then you should follow this guide Guide: Unlocking an O2 phone to use a different SIM card
Or alternatively I could ask one of our account advisors @O2Lisa to help here.

Hi, thanks for the response. Yes its locked as it says network locked when i put the other sim in and it works on a newer phone without any problems.
