your're a joke o2 and I will not be renewing my contract when the new iphone is out.

firstly i know about the international charges, i went to america last month and upon arriving i recieved a text saving we'll send you a text when you've used £20 of data, then £40 of data. after about a week and a half i recieved a text saying you've used £40 worth of data. if i had recieved the first text saying i've used £20 i would've stopped using it. i then rang o2 customer services today upon recieving my bill and they pointed out that they dont send out the £20 usage text, well thank you for informing us of that little piece of information. ill admit i dont usually check my bill as i dont use all my tariff so presumed it would just be the same every month give or take. ringing customer services has however alerted me that i have  been paying insurance on my iphone for 2 years now without knowing. when i took this contract out i didnt ask for the insurance to be added on as im insured by my bank for my phone.

i dont know what you guys think but this seems quite unfair to me, ive been with o2 for about 10 years now from when i got my first phone when i was 13. im seriously thinking about leaving o2 now as they dont seem to value their customers, i know people who have been with o2 for ages and have given up with them now. i think its time to move onto orange or vodafone.

just like add as well that i didnt recieve an email telling me how much my bill would be, ive only found out today because its come out of my bank this morning. the bill was £119!!

You're.

Seriously, you're telling us that you haven't noticed or checked your monthly tarriff for nigh on two years and now realise you've been paying insurance? It is always the responsibility of the contract holder to check their bill and raise issues asap. Leaving it this late is a bit pointless to rant about. There's no point in complaining about customer service if you're not bothered about checking anything.

But in my opinion, if you're going to North America you should be prepared to accept the cost of taking a phone abroad regardless if the network reminds you of usage.

As for billing, the email is sent out at least 10-14 days before the DD is taken and can be checked at anytime via the online account. Where that email has gone will require further investigation on your part i.e. has it gone into a spam box or is the right email address on record.

i agree with sheepdog that you really should of noticed sooner. 24months later and having spent £240 on not needed insurance is a sure fire way not to make that mistake again. I understand though things can be missed. When i left talktalk broadband about 3 years ago. they kept taking money out my account every month for 4 months till i noticed.. i still loose sleep over that £90 they had off me, and never got back.

Then write to them asking for it back.....the legal timeframe is still current as regards the debt.

Just send a letter giving 14 working days to process the refund giving them notice that you will issue a small claim via the court system claiming lost interest and court fees information here https://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk/web/mcol/welcome all done online
