On this page , http://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/01524484934 , it's all O2 customers getting called.
I answered the 01422 call and was asked if I'm on contract or Simplicity, so they know I'm on o2.
I don't like my details being given out (I don't wish to be on the new mobile directory either). *** me off if o2 are selling my personal information.
I'd like to know exactly information is sold or given out.

but they might sell them if you didnt tick the right box on your contract
Register with tps like previous poster said...... you can also remove your mobile number from that new directory service on their site.

O2 do not sell details on, these companies can obtain a list of prefix's and each network own a prefix like 07934 etc. These companies ring a list of number just changing the last few numbers so they know which network you are on and they blag the rest. :robotmad:
Watchdog did a big report on it and it was even stated that these people go out and buy a huge list of numbers on one network so they know what prefixes are being used and when roughly they were activated. They advised to never give out bank account details/card details over the phone.

Now, it gives the impression they are assimilated to o2, but in actual fact they never actually say they are so if you challenge them they can say they never said they were calling from o2.

I don't know where these companies are getting the numbers from - when I took out my contract with O2 I told them I wanted to opt out of being called for marketing purposes etc, and was told that this would be done. I also am registered on the tps online website too (for this and another mobile). At first all calls stopped after a couple of weeks and now I've noticed recently that they have increased. British Gas are also guilty of marketing calls at all silly times of the day and night.
When registered with tpsonline I always answer any calls and tell them I am with tps, they hang up very quickly often with grovelling apologies, in my experience, as they are breaking the law.
Unfortunately this does not work with foreign callers, but I have no trouble with them now.
