As far as I know the s3 mini takes a standard size sim. When you were supplied with the sim card it should have been a dual or triple type. Put the sim back in the carrier and try it.

A bit more information please.

  • Pay monthly or P&G.
  • When you say replacement, was this an upgrade or a replacement for a phone lost or stolen or an exchange for a faulty phone.
  • With this being a new sim have you done the swap here http://swapmysim.o2.co.uk
  • If your previous sim was lost and reported there may well still be a bar on your account

Hello Jonsie

I upgraded to S3 mini. Then when at first could not get onto a network was given a new Sim. That didn't work so then given a new phone. Still doesn't work.

Both Sims were activated buy customer services

Sim was never lost or stolen

So 2 phones and 2 sim.

Does it just state no service in the notification banner?

Check your postcode for coverage issues http://status.o2.co.uk

Also try selecting a network manually.

You could go into the O2 store to let them check the phone but my next step would be to try your sim in another handset. That will tell if the problem is sim related or another faulty phone (unlikely in honesty).

If you still get no service in another handset then it's account related or a mast. Try a different area if possible.

Correct 2 Sims 2 Phones

First message on home page is No Sim - No Service. Subsequent messages not connected to a network

Checked for status - network currently working fine. Normal coverage for internet 4G

Not sure how to select a network manually if you could please help. Otherwise will take it to nearest o2 store

Thanks

Thanks Jonsie

Settings, more networks. Got as far as mobile networks and it says

Insert SIM to access network services

Will take it to an o2 shop in the week.

Sounds favourite. Are you sure the sim is inserted correctly? Just a thought...

Couldn't be 100% on that although daughter has had a go too. She has the Galaxy 4. I'm used to the standard size SIMs.

I will take it to the o2 shop and post an update

Thanks for your time
