Hi there. Curious if O2 do credit checks for switch ups or if it’s just an O2 arrears check? Don’t have the best credit history including a previous insolvency, so want to know what the odds of getting accepted are before I go in store and spend the £50 pre ordering the device on Friday. Wanting the 1TB model if that makes any difference.

@squid7827 my understanding is since the change over in billing system they credit check for everything now whether that be new lines, upgrades and switch up. I could be wrong and I’m sure someone with better knowledge will correct me if I am

Certainly do them for upgrades so I suspect they do them for switch up, after all you are effecively taking out a loan on a very expensive phone

I’ve got the 14 pro max now and was never credit checked for it - I got this in January of 2023

@squid7827 the new billing system has been since then, people were slowly being rolled over to it and I’d suspect all if not the majority are now on it

Come to think of it, I did get an email a while back about my payment changing. Guess that’s me not getting the 16 😂

@squid7827 I assume how long you’ve been with them and account history will also be contributing factors as they used to be.

I’ll have a chat to the live chat team tomorrow and see what they think. I’ve been offered credit cards, so it’s not impossible or unheard of but obviously a £500 credit card is very different to a £1,600 phone
