forum usernames / log in

What's happened with the login / registration process for the forums?

I'm not a regular visitor, but I did set up a forum username a while ago to ask a question.

When I tried to log in recently, I was prompted to log in to my online o2 account (rather than log in with my forum username). I was then promted to create a username for the forum so I put in my old username but it wouldn't accept it - not because it was already taken (by me!!) but because it contained dots, which it said isn't allowed. I replaced the dots with dashes, so now I have a new forum username ian-i-am (rather than ian.i.iam).

Having checked some of my old posts, I see my old account still exists but with underscores (instead of dots).

So now I've got a new forum username ian-i-am, linked to my main o2 account.

And my old username, which was ian.i.iam is now ian_i_am but I have no way of accessing it.

To be honest, I'm not really bothered - but it does all seem rather messy!!!

Hey guys,

Good news on that.

The team is currently working on a redesign of the MyO2 login portal and part of that is a remember me functionality. Last I heard, this was supposed to be delivered during the first quarter of this year. Additionally, we're also evaluating the possibility of a social sign in functionality for the forum.

@ian-i-am:
If you'd like your old username back, please drop me a private message. The link is in my signature.

Cheers,

The forum has now changed and is run by Lithium, the log in will be your O2 user name.

Some like it and some don't but it's ok once you get a bit used to it. slight_smile

I was under the impression this changed a long time ago?

I'm not overly impressed by the set up but it does keep the riff raff out:)
