I have been having numerous calls from people in the last month or so saying I have rang them, but I have not rang them, can you shed any light on this please

@Lin1055 It's likely that a scammer has spoofed your number. The only alternative would be for you to change your number, but that's normally a huge inconvenience. Eventually they move onto another number, and this will hopefully stop, but until then there isn't anything you can do about it.

Have you asked any of these callers why they believe you have called them ?
I had a friend who had a 'phone number that was one digit different to the local council's number. He would regularly receive calls from individuals who had received an answerphone message from the council asking them to call back. And then they dialled incorrectly and 'phoned my mate instead.
The explanation from @Bambino is probably the more likely, but there are other possibilities too.

Hi
I am also overwhelmed with calls originating from O2 customer service (at least deemed to be introducing themselves) offering discounted rates insisting writing a new contract, the numbers originate from +44 113 534 7976, +44 161 524 0104, +44 2045155273, +44 20 4515 5273, +44 20 4515 5273, they all introduce themselves with their names as working for O2 customer service, offering a better contract than what I have now. I am a Virgmedia customer forcibly migrated to O2 service. The calls are really annoying taking so much of my time during driving and working, don't know what to do, once block one number another few pops up from all over UK, never ending saga.

These are spam calls, and NOT O2 and are been generated by the spammers using the publicly available Virgin Mobile Dial plans,
just report each on to o2 using the menu in your phone if on Android or to 7726 Phishing, Smishing & Scams. Latest info & advice.
