I bought a Nokia Lumia 620 from ebay. It said it was locked to o2. It will not accept my giff gaff sim, normally there is no problem with gigg gaff on o2, giff gaff and O2 are both owned by Telefonica.
I think the phone orginally was bought in Ireland. Will it work with a UK sim? I don't want to buy an o2 sim add money onto it and the phone still be lock.
Please can anyone give me any advice.

@MI5
Would they unlock the phone via the unlock request form in your link if they are not customers on the Irish network ?

No idea mate but it may help the OP to make contact with the correct dept to get advice....
I was hoping it would.
Nice to add that info to memory.
I suppose the OP could raise a dispute with paypal or have a stall in a flea market or standalone cellfone shop unlock it.

That would most likely be the easiest way to get it unlocked.....

I followed the link the o2 ie, but because I am in the uK they have sent me the link back to O2 uk.
However, under the O2 Ireland Unlock T&C ......
'Your phone must be registered on O2.ie and you must have topped up by €150 since you registered your phone.

I was hoping that wasn't the case with the unlocking route.
Also O2 Sims are free from an O2 shop. You may just have to top it up by £10 in the shop or request one online.
Or contact the seller and ask them to request the unlock.
Maybe follow my snippet of advice and use a market trader to unlock or start a paypal dispute.
