WiFi texting

We have very poor mobile reception at home (BA15 2HB), but WiFi calling enables me to make and receive calls.

However, I cannot send or receive SMS text messages, without moving around the house until I get a faint signal. I frequently miss texts from banks which require a texted code to log in, or they arrive after the login has timed out.

Are there any plans to enable SMS to work over WiFi? If so, when will this happen?

Must admit I've never got standard SMS to work when on WiFi only and using O2

Works fine swapping to EE

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.

@NickGas

O2 only support certain phones for sms over wifi.

Those are iPhones and Samsung S10 range, so far.

More supported devices have been promised.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

@MI5 Must have given up after the S10 as none of the S20 series work.

That's over 3 years. I'll not hold my breath

Never a good idea with O2

To be fair SMSoWiFi I think is dead, as on Android RCS takes over and routes over WIFI, if Mobile is not available.

The only thing is iPhones, as iMessage steps down to SMS which it then doesn't route over WIFI

Thanks, I have Samsung S8. Still works fine, so I've no plans to change it.

Thanks, I was with EE for 20 years, but swapped to O2 as it's the only network with any coverage at all in our hamlet.

Thanks, my calls route over WiFi OK, but texts don't. O2 told me a couple of years ago it was coming, but I'm still waiting.

@NickGas

The S8 is an old phone, so I very much doubt it will be getting SMSoWiFi, but it might be worth checking for RCS
