So why oh why does the data speed change so dramatically when an Iphone users SIM is inserted?
Seems pretty conclusive to me!


Your original sim is old and needs replacing?
There is no "priority" on data networks.

My SIM is less than a year old and came with my Nokia 5800.

The O2 help line weren't at all interested, they just kept saying speeds weren't gauranteed. Thing is I have Never had faster than 61kps, (apart from when an Iphone's SIM was inserted a few days ago). So either the muppets at O2 sent the wrong SIM 10 months ago or something is adrift. The phone mostly says 3.5G when it's online so I am pretty sure I have a 3G capable SIM.

Just seems very strange how it instantly went faster with my friends SIM.

I would say you have an issue with your sim card, go to a shop and see if they can get you a new one, not common for them to be faulty but it can happen 😞

Just been to the O2 shop and I have no issue with the SIM. The sales person was very helpful and informed me that iPhones do in fact have their own portal which has much greater speeds than non iPhones. Apparently, Apple pay for this privilege. He said that I probably wont be able to get better speeds than what I am getting now. It is very annoying that O2 do not inform people of this.

Very annoying!

Oh, and the Dell Streak I crashed last week is still crashed and the screen is still on full brightness with "35kbps download speed from www.dslreports.com" slowly being burnt into it!!! LOL Can't believe that no shop assistant has bothered to reset it or turn it off. It's already been over 72 hours!!!

After all the excuses from O2 I put an official complaint in, got a new sim card for free and am now get 1mb download speeds. Crazy as the O2 help line people I dealt with were not intertested and said speeds were not guaranteed and didn't even give me the option of a new sim. If anyone else is having problems then contact this person direct. I will be emailing her once more to thank her and suggests she investigates.
