We have heard of contracts being quashed as long as the handset if part of the contract is returned also.

I have tried the complaints route  - a formal letter - and after two months I have still not received a reply.

Ask complaints for a deadlock letter and then take your case to the Ombudsman.

I've had the same issue today - tried 'chat' first, only to be told that I can't cancel via them. Then rang 202 three times only to be disconnected after waiting ages in a queue; Then on the 4th attempt I did finally speak to someone who said I needed to be transferred but that it was too busy & I would have to ring tomorrow!

Very poor customer service.... surely if demand is so high, they should re-enable cancelling option via the chat service?

It is a complete disgrace that a company like 02 can not provide customer service.  It isn't hard to put the customer first.   Hanging up on customers only increases frustration.   Asking a community to handle problems is like asking people to walk outside and have the community diagnose their medical problems.  Guess what - we are not all in this together.

It is 02's responsibility as a corporation to care for the customer that pays them.  To give the best service available.  We choose 02 and give them our hard earned money only to be treated horribly.  This isn't right.  02 should be the kind of company people talk about, want to join, want to tell friends and family, "it's great!"  Instead, customers are saying the opposite - telling friends and family to avoid - they won't treat you right and they will hang up on you if you need them.

I can't even imagine the thinking that goes on behind this type of treatment of customers, from Facebook to Twitter to Boards there is nothing but complaints.   To call because you need a voice on the other end of the line only to be patronisingly told to try online - as if none of us tried that first because calling as we all know is the last option we want -  this is mis management at the highest degree.   It's a shame that 02 has to be this kind of company, just like all the others.

So kids, as you make your way in the world come up with a company that cares, never forget the customer should come first, it is their money that gives you profit.  Never forget where you came from and stick to that, your company will flourish.   The sad thing is, 02 cares more about the invisible market fantasy of profit and gains rather than the customer, I'm sure the CEO could care less and that's what this is all about - mismanagement for greed.
