Hi. Has anyone managed to configure this for use with O2 broadband? I have tried their FAQ "How to set up O2 Broadband on your own router", but it does not work.

thanks for looking.

It is possible to use your own router, the full settings are located here http://customerforum.o2.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=692

Hi
Did anyone have any success getting their US Robotics 9106 (or even 9105 - same but non-wireless) to work on O2's standard LLU home broadband package?

If you did, what settings did you change. I've been through all the settings listed on the O2 website, and been on the phone to them for an hour and a half trying out every possible variation of the settings on the modem itself.

Does a firmware upgrade of the modem help? It still has the original firmware it was shipped with.

Many thanks in advance for your help/replies

I have worked out how to do this and am typing over my connected USR 9106, this should also work on the 9105.
So here is how you do it. After a factory reset.
VPI 0
VCI 101
Service Category UBR without VCR
MAC Encapsulation Routing (MER)
Encapsulation Mode LLC/SNAP Bridging
Automatic IP
I left the default gateway as use IP address
DNS server: obtain automatically
Enable NAT (probably optional)
Enable IGMP Multicast
Enable WAN Service
might take half an hour to recognise your box but it will work.
I will warn that the 9106 is worse than the O2 box - mine connects at 6Mb/s rather than the 8 I usually get. However hopefully have kept a few out of landfill for now!

Hopefully it can save some routers from landfill but there is always an alternative such as Freegle where people can recycle their old goods.
