Text Messaging o2 Mobiles From BT Network

For years I have used my BT landline to text messages to my family on the o2 network. About 2 weeks ago, this facility failed and I have done everything to try to sort my landline. I have even spent hours on the phone to BT about this. No one has any idea what the issue is.

This morning, I read some posts on BT's forum that others were exeperiencing problems texting o2 networks and it is beginning to seem that this may only be o2 who are affected.

Is anyone else aware of this issue?

Never heard of sending text messages from a land line. Is there a charge to do that?

Edit: I just Googled it and answered my own question. It costs 10.5p per text. @airsgian do you not have a mobile phone?

Yes...I have a BT landline and one of their 'selling points' is the ability to text. I read the prices though and decided there were far cheaper options..

Aha, hello, Toby

I have not reported it via o2 Customer Services. I have done to BT tho.

I have not changed the phone for several years and the service has worked well for around 5/7 years. I had the phone disconnected from the mains for a short time some weeks back but this should not cause a problem. However, i have gone thru all the settings and checked and restored them without success.

I can send messages to myself on the BT landline which shows that the service works. And I can receive messages from o2 customers. They simply do not receive my messages now. And....it appears that I am not alone with this problem now as several others are reporting likewise on the BT Forums.
