Roaming in Australia.

We have had a number of posts recently where customers have experienced problems roaming in Australia. 

This is down to a new policy by the Australian Government.

The article in this link explains how this works. It also includes a handy checker so you can ascertain if your phone is compatible and how you can get more information.

Remember if you are PAYG even if your handset is compatible you may have difficulties.

The explanation why I couldn’t make calls is much simpler. All my contact’s numbers start with +. This has to be changed to 00.

Hi NeilE - what do you mean by this? So if a number begun with 0753 would it be 000753... or 007534. Thanks in advance!

When calling the UK from abroad you drop the first 0 and add either +44 or 0044

So an 07534 number becomes +447534 or 00447534
