Problem with Vodafone calling me

Anonymous
Not applicable
I ported my number from Vodafone 18 months ago and about 3 months ago, I could not receive calls or texts from Vodafone. They just get a number not in use tone. Yet I can ring and text them okay.

I rang Vodafone and O2 and they BOTH fob me off with "everything is fine with our network, its their fault not ours". Nobody will even bother to help or log a fault for me. All i need is a o2 engineer to talk to a vodafone engineer and get this working again.

I used to work at Vodafone and know that ported numbers can sometimes have issues.

If I cant get this resolved soon I am leaving O2 to go back to Vodafone as at least that will cure my problem.

Why will nobody look into this for me?!

Bet you it's Vodafone that are at fault. They port numbers differently from all other UK networks causing no end of problems

They are the ones that own the number and they are the ones responsible for the switching and there is little O2 can do

I agree. If it was me I would email/write to O2 explaining the problem and ask for it to be passed for investigation.
I would also contact Vodafone, explaining the issue and asking them to investigate.

Okay , that does make sense, I was getting frustrated with the lack of help offered by O2.

If I at least put this in writing to the right people it will hopefully get looked at properly.

It's Vodafone that's caused the original issue here. Number porting in the UK is controlled by the donating network. Problems like this occur when the donating company doesn't release the number fully. Vodafone have a unique way of porting and so cause more errors then the other networks.

You'll need to call o2 customer services who will need to escalate the issue, this is done by filling in an electroninc form. It's proper name is an 'MNP Escalation' so if the advisor you speak with is needing some guidence use this term and hopefully they'll manage to put 2 and 2 together. slight_smile
