Poor O2 network coverage / drop outs / call fails

Has anyone noticed that O2 network coverage is getting worse the last couple of months, number of call fails also increasing - generally performance decreasing?

A bit annoying when family members living in the same town as me get brilliant 4G signal...

......but they are on EE

I remember way back... the reason I changed to O2 was because at that time they were renowned for the best signal....sadly no more...

It's the same situation here for me too. EE have good 4G coverage whilst the O2 signal has deteriorated over the last few months. Shame and I will be changing to EE when I upgrade my phone next time.

@MI5 said "We all need to move there then as it seems to be the only place it works..
Mind you its not 4g that's the problem though, that works fine, it's 3g that's rubbish!!!"

I ran some speed tests and made some call's / texts yesterday ,with 4G turned off for data use.

Calls clear and 3G speed 22.0 Mbps download & 3.83 Mbps upload.

I'd certainly be looking at other Networks with a view to PAC ,if I was experiencing similar issues to you guys. 😞

Obviously my situation is slightly different as I'm Payg and can swap and change without any penalties.

I hope service gets better for you all.

Since moving over to 4G, at least three times a week, I get no reception at all - it's really inconvenient and annoying. I don't even get 4G in my area, so I don't understand why it should affect me. Given the amount of people complaining about it, you would think O2 would make some comment, but nothing from them and on the live status checker, it never shows any problem.

Hi @Anonymous

Have you tried turning 4G off in your phones settings to force the phone onto 3G only. If you have does that make a difference.

If the Service checker is showing as 'good' then download the MYNETWORK app to report the masts.

Do others in your area on O2 have the same kind of coverage. If so ask them to do the same.

Network future quotes 98% Uk coverage by 2017 but that's a long way off for people experiencing issues right now. 😞

I hope signal strength etc improve for you ASAP.

Thanks @Anonymous - I'll try the 3g only option, but given that there is no 4g here, and it's the 3g it's saying isn't there at all, I'm not holding my breath! But thank you for your response, I appreciate it.

If you have a 3G toggle in your settings you could try switching that off too to push your phone to 2 G for call stability ,however that then affects internet speeds.

Good luck.

Tugo for Contract Customers is an option.

Viber and WhapsApp are interim alternatives but these two need to be downloaded by the recipient.
